Deacons Ministry:
"Ministering to those in need"

"They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them" Acts 6:5-6

The office of deacon, as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Deacons are elected and ordained as officers of the church.

The ministry of Deacons is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Deacons respond to those in crisis or special situations, serving as a “point of contact” for caring response.

Deacons visit members and associates of the church who are homebound, in nursing homes, or in the hospital. If desired, deacons also serve those members communion at home on the first Sunday of each month, as an extension of the communion of the whole congregation.

Deacons support those who have experienced the death of a family member through bereavement ministry by assisting with the memorial service, reception, family care, and follow up.

Deacons provide care to youth, and help coordinate hospitality and food for special events at the church.

Deacons offer support for families celebrating the arrival of a baby, those needing benevolence assistance, and those who call the Response Care cell phone for after-hours pastoral care emergencies.
