Early Childhood Programs

Statement of Belief

We believe that through the Early Childhood Program we are able to minister to the children and their families, and they to us. We seek to introduce the very basic concepts of our faith: that God is the creator of all, that Jesus is our Friend and Savior, and that we are loved unconditionally by God. The theological underpinning of the program is Christian and the Christian story is presented. The Early Childhood Program is open for all members of the church and others in the community. We enroll children without regard to race, religion, color, sex, national or ethnic origin, or disability.

Philosophy

The Early Childhood Program provides a warm, loving environment that recognizes that children's play is their work and their tool for learning. Through the prepared environment children learn to be alert, curious, and confident; to develop initiative; to ask questions; and to solve problems.

Licensing and Accreditation
  • The ECP is licensed by the Texas Dept. of Protective and Regulatory Services.
Mission Statement
  • To promote a Christian education which will emphasize God's love, and love of others.

  • To provide a nurturing environment in which a developmentally appropriate curriculum will provide for physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth through an integrated approach.
  • To prepare an environment where children will learn throucrh active exploration of materials, and through interactions with other children and adults.
  • To provide a program where success is experienced and love of learning is nurtured and enhanced.

Program Information

Curriculum
Mothers Day Out (MDO) and Preschool Teachers work from a thematic approach that presents new and challenging concepts to the children. The curriculum is a balance between learning centers, individual instruction, group time, and teacher directed activities. The curriculum design recognizes that children learn best through active participation.

Chapel
Preschool Chapel is offered to each class once a week. The emphasis is on God's plan for a good and loving world. Appropriate stories from the Bible are shared with the children. Praise, thanksgiving, and prayer are part of the experience. We seek to tell the good news of God's love, and to enable the children to respond in ways appropriate for their age.

Enrichment Classes
Preschool Enrichment experiences are provided through classes in creative arts, Spanish, music, and physical education.
