A TEXAS WELCOME FOR OUR NEW STAFF MEMBERS

honor of our new staff members, Rachel Young, Josh Young and Josh Trahan, we
will be hosting a welcoming party in Celebration Hall on Sunday, October 11.
Enchiladas will be served at noon (yum!) as we offer a Texas-sized welcome to
our newest CLPC staff and families! See you there!!!
APPRECIATION PARTY FOR KATRINA PENNINGTON
The
congregation and its friends are invited to attend an appreciation party for
Katrina Pennington on Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 in Fellowship Hall. A party
will begin following Saturday Night Worship. We will celebrate Katrina’s nine
years of service as our Director of Student Ministries. Katrina will begin her
preparation and transition for her new call to ministry at CLPC in the area of
missional outreach and congregational connections.
MISSIONARY TO VISIT CLPC
PCUSA missionary Jed Koball
will speak at CLPC on October 17 and 18, as part of the denomination’s program
called World Mission Challenge. It is currently planned for him to present a
“Moment for Mission” at all three services and a more detailed presentation at
a light lunch provided to the congregation on October 18 following the 11:15
a.m. service.
LIBRARY
BOOK SALE
We
are in the process of collecting children and adult books and DVD’s for the
October 25 book sale. Please bring all donations to the church library. All
proceeds will be used to purchase new resources for the library.
BOY SCOUT WREATHS AND CHRISTMAS GREENERY
Boy Scouts from Troop 869 will be in Philadelphia Hall after
each service on October 10/11 to take orders for Christmas wreaths and
greenery. This annual event includes a variety of door wreaths and sprays,
garlands, live trees, table centerpieces and more. Orders will arrive early in
December, and mail order forms are available to have greenery delivered

STREET MINISTRY
Help
assist Galveston residents by serving breakfast from 8-9:30 am on Saturday, Oct
17. We will meet in the parking lot by the crosses at CLPC at 7:00 a.m. and

CONTEMPORARY
ISSUES CLASS
The Contemporary Issues Sunday School class, as part of its
continuing study of the Middle East, is honored to host a guest speaker this
coming Sunday, October 11, at 10:15 in Room L106/107. Eid
Hanna, an Egyptian Presbyterian minister, will be speaking on The Islamic
Mindset – The Five Pillars of Islam and How Muslims See Christians. Eid has served congregations in the Egyptian cities of Minian, Zagazig, and Cairo. He has
participated in mission trips to Lebanon and Syria. He is here in the US to
start churches for Arabic speaking people.
50+
Older Adults

at
noon on Thursday, October 22. Cost is $5.00
Nov. 2 We will be leaving for the Houston Baptist Bible
Museum
at 9:30am on Monday, November 2.
