Jim Elder - In Memoriam     1932-2003

Reverend Dr. Jim Elder

Jim Elder was born in New Orleans, LA and grew up in Acadia Parish, LA on a rice farm. He attended college in Memphis, TN and Seminary in Austin, TX. Jim has served eight congregations in Texas and Louisiana between the years of 1958 and 1992. He is married to Penny Elder and has three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  

Since 1992, Jim served six congregations, ranging in size from 100 members to 4200 members. In three of these churches, he was the Interim Senior Pastor and Head of Staff. In the other three, Jim was Interim Associate Pastor of Congregational Care. He has been Interim Associate Pastor of Congregation Care at Northwoods Presbyterian Church since December 1, 2002.

We will miss you Jim, our beloved friend and teacher. Well done, good and faithful servant!

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Houston Saturday, November 15, 2003 at 3:00PM.
