CLPC has been involved with scouting for over thirty years. We sponsor both
a Cub Scout Pack and a Boy Scout Troop, as well as providing meeting
Space for Brownie and Girl Scout units.
Scouting provides our youth with values, morals and directed programs that
encourage good citizenship, learning, leading and teamwork All of the programs
are open to any youth, within their gender, and all welcome new members at all times.
Many in the congregation were members in their youth and many adults have served scouting in some capacity
once they had children of their own. Without this participation, scouting would
not be the great program that it is for our children.

Girl Scouting Programs
Girl Scouting is divided into several programs Girls in Kindergarten are
Daisy's. while Brownies follow for the first through third grades Next, girls in
the fourth through sixth grades are Juniors. At this stage, it can vary somewhat,
in that sixth through eighth or seventh through ninth graders are Cadets
and after Cadets through age 17 are Seniors. For more information or to register
your daughter in any level of the program, call:
Clear Lake GS Shop 281-282-6077 or
San Jacinto GS Council Offices 713-292-0300
Girl scouting provides a wide variety of opportunities for young ladies to develop
new skills, to have new experiences, to see and do lots of different
types of activities and even to travel. This council offers a variety of summer
camp experiences ranging from sailing on Galveston Bay to horse back riding
to canoeing to nature exploration and the fun of sleeping in tents.
Girls also develop poise, self confidence and social skills through their interaction
with others. It is a wonderful asset for any girl as she grows.
Cub Scouts
The Boy Scoubng program has three distinct areas. These are the Cub Scout
program for boys in the first through fifth grades, the Boy Scouts for boys 11
to 18 and a coed program for young ladies and young men between the ages
of 14 and 21 called Venturing that primarily is a high adventure program.
There is also a career awareness Exploring program for the same older age
group.
CLPC has had both a Cub Scout pack and a Boy Scout troop for almost the
entire history of the church. It has been an important part of the youth ministry
of this church as well as an important outreach to the community at large.
Most of the members are not church members, but many families have joined
after their sons became active in scouts here.
Cub Scouts have several programs. These are Tigers for first graders, Bear
and Wolf Cubs for second and third graders and Webelo's for fourth and fifth
graders. Boys may join at any time of the year at their grade level.
The program provides many opportunities for boys to learn, to develop social
relational skills and teamwork, to go, see and do lots of activities that they
might not otherwise in their families and to enjoy outdoor activities.
Boy Scouts
Boys 11 to 18 enjoy the outdoors and woods. They go together! Boy Scouting
takes advantage of that natural affinity by building their program around
the out of doors with lots of camping, hiking, swimming, canoe and sailing
programs and other activities. In addition, as they progress, they learn self
confidence, leadership, management and organizational skills; as well as
learning about many different specialty areas.
The troop here at CLPC meets every Tuesday in Celebration Hall at 7 p.m. If
you are interested in joining, or would like to visit to see what it is all about,
come to a meeting or call for more info.
